Based on the successful experience of the 2016 European Youth Debating Competition (EYDC, www.eydc.eu), where over 500 students (16 -19 years old) participated across Europe, EYDC is back for 2017.

The European Petrochemical Association (EPCA) and PlasticsEurope are once again organizing a series of debating competitions for youngsters in Europe. They will take place between April and October 2017. Seven countries will be hosting the National Finals: France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Spain, and the UK. Some 50 students between 16 and 19 years old will participate in each of these events. The European Finals 2017 will take place in Berlin on Sunday 1st of October 2017, during the 51st EPCA Annual Meeting.

Once again the debating competition is a multifaceted activity to engage young people with the key issues facing modern society. This year’s debate touches upon the topic: "People, Planet, Profit in the Digital Age: With or without petrochemistry and plastics?” To win, students will need to display public speaking skills with well-informed, logical and persuasive arguments.
