IdentiPlast 2019, the leading European event focused on the recycling and recovery of used plastics, has announced several high-profile speakers.

During “The European Plastics Industries – Towards Circularity” event held in Brussels on 11 December, David Baker, RPC Group Industry Affairs Director, was confirmed as Chairman of the Polyolefin Circular Economy Platform – PCEP.

On the 11th December 2018, 13 organisations from the entire plastics value chain hosted their first annual event “The EU Plastics Industries – Towards Circularity” and presented the status of their voluntary commitments and pledges in front of the media, NGOs and representatives of the European Commission.

In response to the European Plastics Strategy, the European Technology Platform for Sustainable Chemistry (SusChem) and partners issue new report: Plastics Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda in a Circular Economy. This report identifies the challenges to plastics circularity and defines the types of solutions needed to address them. Future research is required in three main areas: Circularity by design, recycling and alternative feedstock.

Javier Constante, Commercial Vice President, Packaging and Specialty Plastics Business EMEA of DOW Europe, has been nominated acting President of PlasticsEurope today. He succeeds Daniele Ferrari, CEO of Versalis (Eni), who was elected President of Cefic (the European Chemical Industry Council) at the end of October.

With growing awareness of the scale and urgency needed to address marine litter, plastics industry leaders (American Chemistry Council, British Plastics Federation, Chemical Industries Association, PlasticsEurope and World Plastics Council) asked leading academic, sustainability and finance experts to provide their thoughts on effective solutions.
