80 students from 16 different schools and universities participated in the "European Youth Debating Competition” Spanish national final on 5th May 2016 at the University Rovira I Virgili (URV), Tarragona, which has co-organised the Spanish debate.
The jury, composed by representatives of the URV, directors of local media and a senior member representing both the petrochemicals, and plastics, industries had a hard time deciding on the winners.
Finally, the top three debaters were Marta Ventura Navarro from the Col.legi Sant Pau Apòstol (Tarragona); Guillem Megías Homar, from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (Barcelona); and María Fortea Cabestany from the Col.legi Mare de Déu del Carme (Tarragona).
These three students will have the honour of representing Spain at the Grand Final in October in Budapest, during EPCA’s 50th Annual Meeting. In this new debate, youngsters from all over Europe will have the opportunity to share their views on the future of the petrochemicals and plastics sectors and how these two industries, through innovation and attracting the best talent, can contribute to a more sustainable and fair society.
